Cinnamon and ginger give this sponge cake a wonderful flavor.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 eggs separated
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup arrowroot
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 Tbsp golden corn syrup

Instructions
 

  • Beat the eggs whites until stiff.
  • Combine remaining ingredients, blend until smooth. Fold in egg whites.
  • Pour into tube pan and bake at 350°F for about 25 minutes. Press lightly with your finger, if the cake springs back, it's cooked.
