Are Traditional Graham Crackers Gluten-Free?
No, Graham Crackers, as we know them, are NOT gluten-free
For gluten sensitive individuals, traditional graham crackers are not a safe option. Graham crackers were first created with graham flour, a species of wheat flour referred to as whole wheat pastry flour;products nowadays are mostly composed from wheat flour or whole wheat flour, making them unfit for people with gluten intolerance or Celiac disease. Thus, certified gluten-free graham crackers need to be selected when baking for someone with gluten sensitivities or on a gluten-free diet.

2. Kinnikinnick’s Gluten-Free Graham Style Crackers and Animal Crackers
Kinnikinnick’s S’moreables gluten-free graham style crackers are widely available and can be used as a great foundation for any graham cracker pie crust. Whereas they are smaller and thicker than the traditional type of graham cracker, these work great when you’re in a pinch! Furthermore, KinniKritters animal crackers also served by Kinnikinnick have even better texture which make them perfect to enjoy alone or use as a base for a dessert. Annie’s Gluten-Free Bunny Graham Cookies are a delightful snack that taste like cinnamon-kissed honey grahams. My kids have been loving them since they were little and the great texture means it’s perfect for snacking or using as a graham cracker crust. 6. Simple Mills Sweet Thins: A Gluten-Free, Grain-Free Snack with Delicious Cinnamon Honey Flavor
Check out Simple Mills Sweet Thins, a gluten-free, grain-free snack that is sure to satisfy. Available in three delicious flavors: chocolate brownie, chocolate mint and the standoutβ€”cinnamon honey! 7. Trying Out Mary’s Gone Crackers’ Gluten-Free Graham Cracker Lineup: Honey, Cinnamon and Chocolate Flavors
I recently sampled Mary’s Gone Cracker’s gluten-free graham cracker lineup, which features a honey, cinnamon and chocolate assortment. Although the size of these crackers doesn’t quite cut it for making s’mores (think Wheat Thins size), they make great snacks or can be used to make graham cracker crusts. Unfortunately, the honey flavor did not have much of a graham-y taste to it, but the cinnamon had a decent flavor. Ultimately, neither variety works well either as a crust or part of a s’more recipe.
Finding the Best Gluten-Free Graham Crackers
We set out to find the best store-bought gluten-free graham crackers, so we tried as many different brands as we could get our hands on. As it turns out, Kinnikinnick and Glutino proved to be the top picks from our taste-test. Both brands had an excellent texture and flavor; although, Kinnikinnick seemed to be slightly sweeter in comparison. In addition, we also tested Enjoy Life, Schar, and Simple Mills. Enjoy Life tasted great but had a dry texture; Schar was flavorful but a bit too crumbly; and Simple Mills was tasty but overly dense.
