A great side dish for a baked ham.
Ingredients
  • 6 slices GF bacon
  • 4 Tbsp bacon drippings
  • 1 head purple cabbage, shredded
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 apple, diced & unpeeled
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 cloves
  • 3 Tbsp white vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
Instructions
  1. Cook 6 slices bacon to a crisp, drain on paper towel. Keep 4 tablespoons of the bacon drippings and add cabbage, onion and apple and cook on medium heat.
  2. Add seasonings and cook slowly to form juices. Watch closely as not to burn. When cabbage is tender, add sugar and vinegar and cook 30 minutes.
