  • 2 lbs beef stew meat chopped (or lamb)
  • 1 Tbsp ginger sliced
  • 6 cloves garlic sliced
  • 2-4 tsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 2 Tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 Tbsp chili pepper
  • 1-2 onions chopped
  • 3 potatoes chopped
  • 1 tsp Five Spice powder
  • 2 bay leaves


  • Put sliced ginger and garlic and chopped onion into wok and stir-fry it for 1 minute. Then add stew meat and fry for 5 minutes until it is almost done.
  • Add all spices and seasonings and mix well. Add 1 cup of water and potatoes, then cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring often.
