Oven-Cooked Bacon

If you want to cook your bacon all at once, not have to tend, and have it cook up flat and perfectly crisp – then you’re going to love this method!

OvenBakedBacon1

You can line your rimmed baking sheets with foil or without. The bacon doesn’t really stick to the pan using this method, so the foil just helps with the clean up.

Once all the bacon is arranged (no overlapping), place in a cold oven and turn oven to 400°F. Starting the bacon in a pre-heated oven will cook the bacon too fast – slow cooking is how to get the perfect color and texture (crispiness).

If you want to cook a lot of bacon, you can put more than one pan in the oven, just switch them around half way through cooking.OvenBakedBacon2

Ingredients

  • 12 Strips of GF Bacon

Instructions

  • Place strips of bacon in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet (with foil or without), be sure not to overlap or they won't crisp evenly.
  • Place baking pan into cold oven on the lower rack and set temperature to 400°F. Check doneness after 17-20 minutes. If you want crispier bacon, cook another 3-5 minutes, but keep an eye on it as it crisps up quickly past this point.
  • Remove bacon to a paper towel to drain.

Notes

You don't need to cover the bacon in the oven, there is little to no grease splatter with this method.

Try sous vide still in the store package, or bag it, then cook at 140° for as long as is convenient. Finish it in a really hot oven or on a griddle until crispy.

    There is no bad bacon!!!

  2. works super easy clean-up, I also spread some course cracked black pepper over the bacon prior to cooking
