Candied Bacon

I have been resisting making this for a long time. I think because I knew how good it would be, and that I would crave it all the time.

Well, yes it is great, but it is also very decadent so all you really need is a few slices to satisfy your sweet and salty taste buds. Surprisingly however, it wasn’t as sweet as I thought it was going to be.

The sugar caramelizes over the bacon creating a crunchy glazed coating alongside the smokiness of the bacon, making it a great appy or as a side for breakfast.

In a bowl mix together the bacon and syrup and half of the brown sugar, tossing to coat. Place bacon slices on a parchment lined baking sheet, or directly onto stoneware. CandiedBacon2

Sprinkle the tops with the remaining brown sugar, and bake at 425°F for 20 minutes, or until crisp. Watch it during the last 8 minutes, since the sugar will cause the bacon to burn faster. CandiedBacon3
