Almond Milk

Do you have a milk sensitivity? Maybe you just ran out of regular milk and need some for a recipe? Or do you just want to taste something new? Give this a try – it is super easy!

All you need are almonds, water, a blender, a sieve, and some cheesecloth (or tea towel if you’re in a pinch!).

Here are some step by step instructions to make your own almond milk:

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup whole raw almonds
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract optional

Instructions
 

  • Soak almonds in water for 2-12 hours.
  • Pour almonds and water into a blender, and process on high until smooth (about 4 minutes).
  • Pour mixture through a mesh strainer, then strain again through a cheesecloth lined strainer. Allow to drain for 10 minutes, then squeeze cloth to extract remaining liquid. Discard solids (or reserve for other uses).

Notes

Keep refrigerated for up to 5 days.

    Discarding the solids? Cooking with them works for me. I freeze what I don’t use for up to 2 months.

    Thanks for sharing with us. I had bariatric surgery and find that gf is good to me and am pleased to find that making it homemade taste better and is more economical than store bought. I LOVE YOU. GOD bless.

    I love Almond milk & want to make my own,thank you! But I prefer mine unsweetened.

  5. I don’t soak my almonds, instead I boil in water for about a minute, drain and rinse with cold water, pop off the skins and they are ready to be liquified!
